Salpicado Coffee Fire Plate | 20cm

Handcrafted by Maestra Ana María Alarzón in Santa María Atzompa, Oaxaca, the Salpicado Plate showcases a distinctive firing technique that makes every piece completely unique.

During the firing process, dry ground coffee interacts with the surface of the clay, leaving behind organic smoky marks and speckles. The coffee burns away in the heat, while its interaction with the clay and firing atmosphere creates the beautifully unpredictable salpicado pattern seen across each plate.

The markings are not painted or printed—they are created through the firing process itself. Because the fire and coffee interact differently with every piece, no two plates will ever have exactly the same pattern.

Perfect for breakfast, appetizers, desserts, or as a beautiful serving plate, it is functional pottery that also tells the story of experimentation and craftsmanship within the ceramic tradition of Atzompa.
